Our brief was to make an open plan kitchen living dining space to the rear of this steeply sloping site. Also to exploit an amazing out look over trees to the Antonine Wall with as much glass as possible. The brief was to place the kitchen over looking the patio and garden, and provide a dining and seating area with double doors to the lounge. The rear garden required retaining walls and stone filled gabions were chosen which will be selectively planted and developed.
The house was reclad in Scottish Larch and insulated to current standards. Windows were upgraded to triple glazed and the house was re-rendered.
