Ideas for a rural cottage

Project Brief

Ailteir-Studio has been employed to develop ideas for a cottage in Dumfries. The cottage sits within steaming of other agricultural buildings. It is in a beautiful rural setting and has many original features. The brief calls for a sensitive but modern addition respecting the local vernacular. The owners wish to have an additional open roofed, open plan, kitchen dining living space with mezzanine bedroom. Further refurbishments will make the attic a more naturally lit, more spacious, modern living space.
